If you have just left school and are struggling to know what to do, or, if you are a little bit older and want to change jobs then this is a great place to start. We currently offer Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in ICT and English.
The Literacy classes are offered twice a year.
Start dates are in September and February and last 17s weeks.
Each student will have an initial assessment with the tutor to determine their starting level.
Our assessment date is Wednesday 24th August 10am -12pm so please get in touch to out your name down.
Why should I do Essential Skills?
Andrea Sullivan started participating in DPCF by completing VTCT Nail Technology and Make-Up courses. It was through doing these that she found out about our Maths and English Level 2 qualifications.
Whilst achieving these, Andrea says she feels she developed her “confidence, interview skills and ability to speak publicly.” She originally signed up to be able to help her children with their Maths and English, however whilst participating, it made her realise that they could help her to develop her career.
With these qualifications, Andrea decided to go into Health and Social Care. She linked in with GEMs NI, completed a qualification with them and now has a role working as a carer in Belfast. She plans to complete a Health and Social Care course in nursing in the near future.
Andrea says that learning in a small community setting was more accessible, comfortable and appropriate for her. Furthermore, DPCF made it achievable financially and changed her life path. Andrea would encourage others to participate in these courses, as it can help you to still develop as an adult whilst opening new doors. Her advice…just go for it!!
